Leeda Icon and Weymouth Angling Centre Flatfish Competition 2019

Great conditions, a good weighing in number of Flatfish and 136 anglers took part at Chesil Beach.

This years event was fished in near perfect conditions apart from a little colour in the water. The comp took place between Abbotsbury and Hive beach. The competition was generously supported by Leeda Icon and WAC with £900 in cash prizes and a prize table of £3000 (55 prizes, prizes not won went into the raffle). This year we had 136 anglers taking part (4 ladies, 4 juniors, 18 OAPs and 110 seniors).

Total number of Flatfish caught were 92 Plaice, 10 Dabs and 1 Sole. There were 45 anglers weighing in where the majority of the fish were kept alive and returned to the sea. Many other fish were caught including Dogfish, Pout, Mackerel, Bass, Whiting and Smoothhound.

The competition is scored by measuring fish at the weigh in. For the first time there was a tie for the winning score but the rules state if equal score the most number of fish shall win). Here are the winning anglers.
