New British Record for Brill caught off Chesil Beach

Local angler Ray Edwards has set a new British Record for Brill. Shore caught off Abbotsbury, Chesil Beach near Weymouth and weighed in at Weymouth Angling Centre. What a fantastic achievement - well done Ray!

Ray Edwards’s shore-caught Brill (Scophthalmus rhombus), ratified at 8lb 3oz, caught from the Chesil Beach at Abbotsbury on 17th November 2018, which beats Mr Fletcher’s 39 year-old record from Guernsey of 7lb 7oz 8dr.

Ray was fishing for Rays at Abbotsbury, Chesil Beach with calm conditions following wind, neap tides in November last year. He was using a Century LD rod and a Daiwa 7HT reel, 16lb Asso line, 3/0 Cox & Rawle hook clipped down. Bait wise Ray was using frozen squid purchase from us. Ray is included on the Angling Trust website update on five new recent British Records.
