What to look for when choosing a home
Choosing the right home can be a complex and worrying business, especially when for older people, the disruption of moving can be particularly distressing. Choosing a home based on location and facilities is relatively simple but deciding on whether a place feels right for you or your relative is more difficult.
We understand the difficulties in making such a big decision and will do all we can to help you make the right one. We recommend that once you have decided on your preferred area you investigate as many different homes that you can. Take the time to have a good look round them, talk to residents, their families and staff. Make sure you look at recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) reports - they are available online at www.cqc.org.uk.
We want people to make as informed a decision as possible - we welcome visitors and are always pleased to answer any questions you may have and to introduce you to residents and staff. We would also be delighted to organise a short stay at any of our homes as this is the best way to discover if the home will be right for you.
There are a lot of factors to consider when choosing a home and we appreciate that most people have no experience of doing so. To help make an informed decision we have developed a checklist that covers the key points - to print a copy please click here or contact us and we will send you one.
