Spring Grove Music Festival
It started as a form of entertainment and recreation for the elderly residents of our Spring Grove care home back in 2005 but has now become a fixture in the musical landscape of north London, giving pleasure to the residents, their families and the general public alike.
The Festival attracts student participants from local schools and music centres and extends its reach across the city. In recent years, performers have joined from a variety of schools, including Henrietta Barnett School, UCS, Camden School for Girls, Hampstead School and St. Paul's School as well as local music centres such as the Youth Music Centre.
Performers compete for prizes in their respective age groups, with winners receiving engraved trophies and cash prizes of £250.
It's not all about the winning though! Above all, The Spring Grove Music Festival celebrates giving back to the local community. We have an ethos of openness and encourage applications from musicians of all standards. Most importantly, we want to give young musicians the chance to perform and the drive to produce something special.
The best of it is this is an opportunity for young people to develop their performance skills while bring joy into the lives of older people. Both groups benefit so much
How it works
The Festival takes place over 5-6 weekends in the January through March. Candidates compete in categories and are separated into appropriate age groups. The highest-scoring candidates over all heats are then invited to compete in the finals.
Venue
Our home, Spring Grove Care Home, is one of London's pre-eminent care homes.
