The life of a Chancery pupil
A Chancery pupil shadows their supervisor and other barristers in chambers, goes to court and attends meetings. From the start pupils will also prepare written advice, draft court documents and undertake research.
Pupils comment favourably on the intellectual challenge and variety of Chancery work. They learn about many new areas of law and develop their commercial and tactical awareness so as better to understand and meet their clients’ needs.
The learning curve may be steep, but progression is enjoyable and stimulating. Come the second half of the year, pupils may appear in court and act for clients in their own right.
